My Faith Will Move Mountains!

By Jill Deville | JDM Ministries

Matthew 17:20 Amplified Bible 20 He answered, “Because of your little faith [your lack of trust and confidence in the power of God]; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, [a]if you have [living] faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Have you ever questioned why your prayers for a situation, illness, concern, or desire didn't result in the "Mountain" moving? It's not always because of a lack of faith. Did you know that? Frequently, God needs to prepare you for the request and breakthrough.

Notice the phrase "If it is God's will" in the verse? This doesn't imply that you must include "if it is your will, Lord" in your prayer. Depending on your mindset and heart at the time, this can sometimes be perceived as doubt. God instructs us to simply ask with belief. He will handle the timing and the answer.

Sometimes the "when" can make us feel ignored and without a response, correct? Rest assured, God has heard you, and He is working on the answer.

Why is there a delay if you have faith? Often, you may not be ready for that job because it could interfere with your relationships with your spouse, parents, children, or even with God. The same applies to a new home; you might desire it but may not be prepared to afford it, maintain it, or spend more weekends at home due to higher payments. Perhaps the person you're praying for isn't a person of God, but rather someone driven by lust, anger, control, or similar traits. God sees beyond what you can see and aims to protect His child. He won't give you something that could harm you, delay you, or distract you from Him or those He has entrusted to you.

Let's consider the delay of healing. Why might there be a delay in healing? You're unwell, you've asked for healing, you believe, yet nothing seems to be happening. But is nothing really happening? Could it be that God is also healing those who witness your illness and recovery, both physically and spiritually?

Didn't you express a desire to take up your cross and follow Him? What if this involves demonstrating to others how to endure with Him for a time, providing a living example of God's healing power, both literally and spiritually? If He were to heal you instantly, would you value or remember it in the same way?

Consider the man whose friends lowered him through the roof to be healed by Jesus. In his moment of need, his friends and onlookers also experienced healing. The man at the gate of the church for over 40 years stands out to me the most. The preacher, parents, and "Christians" who passed by him on their way into church, giving him money or complaining about him... Why attend church or preach if there's no belief strong enough to lay hands on this man and heal him? Belief is powerful... who are you passing by and not healing today?

What seems to be no or unheard, has been heard. Now that you are aware of the stall in your prayers you can ask for that mountain to be moved... and in addition ask God to give you wisdom, understanding and a mindset that it is already done. To prepare you so that when the mountain is moved you He will not be moved with it.

As Jesus stated in Matthew 17:20, nothing is impossible for you, you just have to be ready for that yes! Get your yes faster by strengthening your faith with wisdom and understanding. Know that we know the word, the word will become living and active within us as we choose to live it.

Your "yes" is on the way!

Prayer:

Lord, prepare me for the yes. I want to be mature in Christ with ears to hear you, eyes to see you and a heart, mind, and soul that will allow me to live faith to faith because of this yes! Lord I need/want ____________________ ( "mountain" no matter if it is a better hair day or a massive healing ... ask for it if you want it and don't if you don't! ) I know you hear me Lord, and I thank you for going before me to prepare me, I thank you that my prayer is answered and my yes is on the way. I thank you for all that you will reach with this yes too in Jesus name amen.

What to do while waiting:

When the answer doesn't seem immediate, thank Him for the yes that is on the way instead of letting worry or doubt take over your thoughts. Replace it with gratitude, saying, "Thank you, Lord, for hearing me. I refuse to listen to satan; I know you are working on me and the situation, in Jesus' name, amen." Meanwhile, do something for someone else, pray for others, and demonstrate to God that you are doing your part while He does His. Perhaps the delay is meant for you to pray for everyone who needs or desires what you want, or to gain wisdom and understanding for it because they don't know how to ask for it. Think bigger.

What to do next in the moment:

Remember how swiftly you received the yes, be grateful for it, and each time you encounter the yes (whether it's a car, a friend, or a job), thank Him for granting it to keep your focus on "He accomplished that" rather than "I accomplished that".

Bye Everyone!
